A rattle is the shamanic practitioners first and most portable voice - the sound that shakes the air awake, parts the veil, and moves what has grown heavy and still. Where the drum carries you down on a steady heartbeat, the rattle works close and precise: shaking loose dense, stagnant energy, clearing a space, calling the helping spirits near.

This one was made to serve that work. Take it up when you journey. Take it up when you need to break apart what has settled and gone thick - in your own field or in a client's - for extraction, for protection, for drawing the energy body back into balance. Its voice does not soothe so much as it clears.

Each element carries its own medicine:

• Deer - the gentlest of the threshold-walkers. Deer crosses between the seen world and the Otherworld on soft feet, teaching that gentleness is its own power and that the open heart is what lets us pass. Alert to the subtlest shift in a field, deer hide carries that sensitivity into every sound the rattle makes.

• Antler - grown from the head and shed each year, the great symbol of regeneration and of reaching upward toward spirit. Like the branches of a tree, or the crown of the wild god Cernunnos, antler bridges the rooted earth and the high realms, and draws down what is received from above. It is what you hold, and so it is what channels - the axis of the work, in your hand.

• White Rabbit - the one who leads you down. Into the burrow, into the dark, through the threshold and into the lower world where so much journey work is done. Lunar and quick, ears forever listening, rabbit teaches deep receptivity and the courage to follow where the path descends. White for purity, for clear beginnings, for the moon's own light on the way in.

• Quartz - the master crystal, the great amplifier. Quartz clarifies, purifies, and magnifies whatever intention is set through it, lending its power to every ally it works beside. Held within the rattle it is perfectly placed: as the spirits of sound break apart what has grown dense, the quartz amplifies that clearing and holds your intention bright at the centre of it.

No two are ever alike. This one was allowed to become what it wished to be, and it carries the prayers it was made with.
