The Journey of Choosing Your Runes
When you choose to add runes to your custom Shamanic drum, I begin by entering a shamanic journey to meet with your guides - the helping spirits that walk beside you. In this space, I ask what runes would best support your health, happiness, and relationship with the drum that is coming into being.
Often, your guides reveal much more than symbols. They may speak of:
How the drum wishes to be laced or tuned,
Ceremonial elements that want to be included,
The name or purpose of the drum,
Or ancestral threads that weave into your path through the drum’s spirit.
This is always done with your explicit consent. The journey is sacred and personal - it opens the space for the drum’s spirit to speak clearly, with respect for your sovereignty and your own path.
Alternatively: A Rune Selection Without the Journey
Not everyone wishes for a shamanic journey to be performed on their behalf. For those who prefer, I can select runes through my own intuitive connection to the runic current.
In this approach, I use my experience as a runecaster to create a balanced, supportive set aligned with your stated intention - whether you seek grounding, transformation, creative flow, or protection. I may:
Intuit the runes directly through meditation,
Draw runes from a set,
Or cast them in ceremony to allow the Nornir or Disir - the weavers of your fate — to guide the selection.
The process depends on whether you already hold a clear vision for your drum, or whether you wish to surrender to what the unseen world offers.

Once chosen, the runes are hand-burned or painted onto the hoop with reverence. Each mark is made in prayer, breath by breath - sealing the spirit of the rune into the wood.

When placing your order for a custom drum:
Select “Add Runes to Hoop” from the options.
Specify whether you’d like a Shamanic Journey Selection or Intuitive Rune Selection.
Share a few words about your drum’s intention - what you want it to support or represent.
I’ll contact you to confirm and, if you wish, discuss any insights that arise during the process.
Your drum will then be birthed through the ceremony, shaped by both craftsmanship and spirit.
